NJASK

Well the NJASK finally came and went. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. It started off kind of easy and then there were some times where it was a little more challenging. Every year I get nervous as it gets closer to taking the test. We had so much class work to prepare us and it was difficult. I really hope I did well. Sometimes when I think its easy, I didn't do as well as I thought and when I think its hard, I do better than I thought. I am glad its over. It was a challenge to have to sit there for so long.

School Uniforms

Why wear and not wear school uniforms?  You don’t get to express yourself. You don’t get to show your fashion sense. We should be able to wear whatever we want. Students everywhere are beginning to be required to wear school uniforms, including Edison public Schools. Some reasons include them not wanting kids to wear inappropriate clothes to school. It will also help other students who may not be able to afford nice clothes avoid being teased by others students because they may not have the latest fashions.
Wearing your own clothes can be best because you get to be an individual. You won’t look like everyone else and you’ll stand out from everyone else. You have choices when you’re shopping for clothes though some think that buying different clothes can be expensive. But, so can uniforms.
Suppose a family can’t afford a uniform? Many times, buying your own style of clothing can be cheaper. Many people shop when there are sales or buy second hand clothes or even accept second hand clothes from siblings or other family members.  You never know what a family’s financial situation is.
Your own clothes create your own feelings about yourself. Individual styles can help your self-esteem. Having the same clothes can make you feel like you’re the same as everyone else and can make you feel depressed.
Wearing your own bright-colored clothes is best. You can wear whatever you want whenever you want. Individual style is best and makes you feel special.

Carrot Cups

Carrot Cups are for everyone to enjoy. They are good for travel because they are mess free and you won’t have to worry about your kids making a big mess because they won’t have to dip them. You just fill the carrot cup with your favorite dip or dressing and they can just bite right into them while enjoying a big burst of flavor.
Carrot Cups are also very healthy and they are great for anyone wanting to eat healthy. They are zero calories when eaten plain and 100% natural in quality and flavor. There are no artificial sweeteners, not unless you want sweet carrots.
They are also affordable. Many times it’s very expensive to eat healthy, but with carrot cups you save money while cutting calories and all the other preservatives and bad stuff that goes into unhealthy foods.
Carrots Cups are also fun. Today you may want to fill them with ranch dressing, tomorrow with yogurt. Anything your taste buds crave. You can create your own dips or even mix them with other vegetables. The possibilities are endless and that’s why Carrot Cups are so great. The kids won’t give you a hard time about vegetables anymore.
So, the next time you crave something different from what you normally eat and want to eat healthy while having fun, reach for a Carrot Cup. Experiment with your own dips and sauces, and let the adventure begin.

My TV Commercial

Carrots Cups are healthy and fun! Airing my commercial for them after the 3:00 news would be a great thing. The time is right after school when kids get home and are hungry and looking for that after school snack. They will remember the commercial and mention it to their parents. Parents don't like all the sugary cereal commercials or even the sugery fruit roll ups. So, the next time they go to the supermarket, they will look for carrot cups. They will be delighted to see their kids ask about the carrots cups, a healthy fun snack.

Ad Campain

This ad campaign really gets your attention because they used a dog and it makes you feel sorry for him. It also makes you remember it.

Traveler's Insurance

One of my favorite commercials is the one about Traveler's Insurance where the dog is trying to find a secure place for his bone. He tries to get rest but keeps dreaming about his bone. Then he wakes up, goes to get his bone and hide it somewhere else. He tries to hide it under clothes in a laundry basket, under a rug, in his back yard an then he gets on a bus and takes it to the bank, but he still can't sleep and think about what could happen to it. At the end he is happy outside playing and an umbrella is over his bone in his bowl. The umbrella is from the insurance name and his bone is secure. I like this commercial because the dog is so cute and I feel sorry for him. It's kind of sad, but it has a happy ending.

Communication and Technology

I don't think that communicating keeps you from learning. I think you will learn more when communicating. When talking to someone, they may have some information that you need. It could be someone in your class that found information that you need, or it could be a friend or someone that you know very well that is very smart and know a lot about something that you want to know more about. So, you could ask them about it. They may know or they may not know. But, you get to learn from each other and share opinions. Communicating can also help you with your social skills and keep you from being afraid to ask a question that you may think is dumb.

I think that technology helps you communicate better and faster. It makes learning technology better also. After talking with my mom, the one problem there is with technology is privacy. People have ways of getting your personal information that you may not want them to have.

Ms. Caroll

I would like Ms. Caroll to know that I am an artist and that I love animals. I also would like to know if she loves animals too. I would like her to know that I am creative and that some other artist and creative people that draw interesting things can and do enspire me. I have many books about dogs and hope to work with them someday. I've always wanted my own dog. There are many dogs that I want and some of them are Rotties, Bulldogs, Dobermans, and Pit bulls. Dogs are just one of the house hold pets that I wish to have.

Resolutions

My first resolution is to get better grades. The reason I chose this is because I have been getting bad grades and that affects my grades for the overall marking period and I feel really upset.  I also have been studying very little through out the year. So the way I am going to get better is to study more and study harder to get better grades in class and write that I have to study in my planner.

My second resolution is working faster. I need to work faster in class is because I have been working really slowly.   If we have only a few minutes to work on the sheet and then I don’t get to finish the work sheet because I have been going so slow and doing other things in class that aren’t as important as the work sheet I am suppose to be doing. The way I am going to solve this is  by telling my teacher or parents that he or she should put just a little pressure on me and tell me to focus on my work and pay attention to keep me from getting distracted in class.

Holidays: Should people get pets for christmas or not?

We usually get toys for Christmas and sometimes we get a pet like a dog. But, should we be giving them animals for Christmas? Younger kids may want  a specific animal that is not possible to have and you've gotten them other pets just to please them.  Then you will feel bad for the kids because you can't get them that certain animal. Also, you shouldn't get them pets just to please or make your kids happy. You should think about it first before you buy another animal. You could end up having too many animals and not be able to live where you're living. Or, you would have to give away some of your pets and the kids will cry. You could try to convince the owner of your place or the complainers  to keep their pets. But, it is good to have pets for Christmas because the kids will be very happy. You should think about the type of pets they're asking for and if it is a good idea or not.

Dear Santa

This is a letter of a present I have wanted for many years but I don’t have the money to get it. It is a dog that I look at in my dog books. It is a bulldog that I want to name Georgia and these type of dogs cost too much money. Sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve this present, because my mom says that and I feel that she is right. I also feel sad for not appreciating the things I get and also not listening to my parents. But now I want to start over and listen to my parents and be a good kid. I also want to appreciate the things that my parents get for me. So if you can get this for me, even if I’m not the parent, I would still be happy because it would be a very surprising present.

Sincerely,

Iaisha Manning

Thankful

I am thankful for my family and the things they do for me. Like helping me with my homework and making me diner. Also when they buy me clothes. They give me a bed and warmth to keep me comfortable.

Halloween

Halloween is not that big of  a deal to me. But, I do like Halloween. It is like a celebration to me but celebrating the devil's birthday. The most fun thing on Halloween is getting all that candy so we can all rot our teeth out. It's like getting a confetti of candy. "YOU CAN ALSO" get to dress up like any ghoul or goblin on this earth. It could be a common one like "DRACULA!" Or, you can be a very rare creature like the "GRIFFON" and you can also be a super hero like "SUPER MAN!" But, thats all I have to say for Halloween and this "OOH, HA, HA, HA, HA.!!!!"

Patriotism

Where would we be without freedom? We wouldn’t be able to have our rights to do what we do today. We could not even say some of the things we say today (freedom of speech) or even go to school. We wouldn’t even be able to worship God in our own way. I think some people take these freedoms too far and try to make people follow what they believe. Remember.....FREEDOM!

Ralph Fletcher's Narrative - Last Kiss

I like the way they described how the boy's parents stop giving him good night kisses. It's cool how they make his dad slowly stop giving him kisses over time. Even his mom, is to me, surprisingly, stopping or slowing down on giving him kisses because the mom thinks their kids will never grow up and will always be there little baby.

Childhood

I miss being little because I got all the attention. I can remember spending time with my grandfather that I called pop-pop. He used to call me peanut-butter. When I think about it it makes me happy and sad because he passed away and I miss him so much. I would go to grandma and pop-pop's house and play with all the toys they used to keep for the grand kids. If there were a way to go back in time, I would do it all the time.

Bull Dogs

The dog I have always wanted is a bull dog. I think they are so cute the way their faces look when they have an underbite. The way they wobble when they walk is so cute. I have read that they can be very stubborn and have a strong bite. But, I will train her well. I have decided to name my bull dog Georgia when I get one. I am going to be really excited when I get my bull dog named Georgia.

Middle School

Middle School is different than I expected. I thought it would be a little tougher. It seems easier to get to class than I thought, although it is a rush to get to class. Art, Health, and English are my favorite classes of the day. All the different binders and notebooks are overwhelming, but I'm sure I'll get used to it!
